I have received a number of comments from readers that it is difficult to make suggestions of wines that I should try and feature on Vino By Gino. Therefore, I have created this linked blog that can be used specifically to make suggestions or to write your own comments about a wine that you have tried and like. Other readers can also then respond directly to your postings and I will most likely weigh in as well.
You now have a choice. You can respond directly to my postings on the main Vino By Gino page or you can go to Wine Suggestions and Discussion to suggest a wine for me to try or to post your own comments about a wine that you have tried. Or both!
Your suggestions and comments must still be done as a comment to my posts. However, on the Wine Suggestions/Discussions page, I will maintain a single post with all comments appearing under the same posting. Each month I will archive the comments and start over.
I very much look forward to your suggestions and comments! -- Gino

I understand that I forgot to turn off the requirement that m ust register to make a comment. That has now been corrected so you can make comments at will and under any name you want.

Hi Gino,
I am going to give you 2 comments,(as promised!). Last Friday night went to dinner at the Aegean Rest.
in Natick Area. It was a Birthday
and we celebrated with 4 bottles of vino! Two of the bottles were
Pinot Grigio from Italy. The vineyard name was de Lenardo. Boy was it tasty!
Also, for all you Champagne lovers
Westport Vineyard located in Westport, MA has THE VERY BEST
(DOMESTIC) Champagne. It was recommended to me and I have since passed on the info to other people.
Try both the "Bubbly Champagne " and the Pinot! Happy sipping!

Thank you, Anonymous. I will try that deLenardo Pinot Grigio. It makes me think of Lenny DiNardo, a Red Sox pitcher on the DL right now! Also, I am having trouble finding the Maso Canali Pinot Grigio that I posted about earlier. The store where i bought it couldn't find it, even though their computers showed they had some (I might suggest they polygraph their employees!)
I will also try the Westport Vineyard Champagne and perhaps even visit that Vineyard. It is close enough that I could get there and back in a day.

Hello Gino
I would like to recommend a wine by Castello Di Salle - a Montepulciano D'Abruzzo named La Botte Dell'Abate and would encourage you and your many readers to try it. It is a delicious wine with a complex fruity flavor and long finish, yet it is quite smooth. At $10.99 per bottle and the case discount (hey, why not?) it's a steal. I'm interested in your comments.
Also, I would enthusiastically agree with some of your readers' comments on Westport Vineyards. While so many New England wines are sweet fruit wines Westport makes serious, award winning wines and champagnes. Bob and Carol Russell are great people and you would be supporting the local economy.
Congratulations on your web page and keep up the good work.

Bob, I appreciate the tip about the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. As I have said in the past, that has become one of my favorite wines so it does not take much convincing to get me to try another one. I look forward to it.
As for Westport Winery, I am now even more motivated to both try thier wines and champagne (or sparkling wine for purists!), and to visit the winery. I am glad that you pointed out the benefit of helping the local economy. As a planner, that gives me added incentive. As I always do, when I discuss one of their wines, I will also discuss the company and the region, which, in this case, may focus on the Town of Westport.

Saluto Gino - My comment is a link to the French branch of the Clan Johnston family, based in the Bordeux region via Scotland since the early 18th century. I have a 1930s bottle of no remarkable vintage as per my correspondence with vintner Ivanhoe Johnston, but I will bring you a more recently vinted bottle to sample. I find it fruity, well-balanced but robust, with warming oak undertones. It would be an honor for me to have your review on vinobygino. - Elizabeth

elizabeth, I would love to sample and review a Clan Johnston Bordeaux. I will also check out that web site. By the way, to facilitate access, anybody can get to that site by clicking here, rather than having to type in that address.
